![]() The South Australian Cancer Registry The SA Cancer Registry of the Department of Health monitors, analyses, reports and makes recommendations on epidemiological, demographic and social indicators for interventions aimed at preventing cancer in South Australia through:
The data are available for the diagnostic period since 1977 by cancer site and histopathological type, and for sectors of the population classified by age, sex, place of residence, country of birth, and in many instances by race and occupation. The Registry uses its data to give direction to cancer-control programmes in the areas of prevention, screening, treatment, rehabilitation, and hospice and palliative care, and to monitor and evaluate the impact of these programmes. The aim is to reduce, as far as is practicable, the burden of cancer on the SA population.
