Local
Council of the Year Award
The ‘Public and
Environmental Health Award – Council of the Year’ was developed and
initiated by the PEHC and is sponsored by the Department of Health and
the Local Government Association of South Australia (LGA). The award
recognises outstanding achievement and excellence by South Australian
local councils in the field of public and environmental health.
Each year, the award is presented to one metropolitan and one regional
South Australian local council (from a short list of six regional and
six metropolitan local councils) that have shown excellence and
innovation in meeting their public and environmental health obligations
to their community.
The two winning local councils are awarded an engraved trophy and a
$1500.00 cheque to be used towards a public and environmental health
initiative, in recognition of their efforts. All short listed local
councils are also awarded a framed certificate of excellence signed by
the Minister for Health.
