Public and Environmental Health Council (PEHC)

Meetings

Meetings of the PEHC are held on the first Friday of every second month. Meetings are held at the Department of Health, 11 Hindmarsh Square, Adelaide.

The Presiding Member, if present at a meeting of the PEHC, presides at that meeting and, in the absence of that Member, his or her Deputy presides. If neither the Presiding Member nor Deputy Presiding Member are available to preside at a meeting of the PEHC, the Members may elect one of their number to preside at the meeting.

Four Members constitute a quorum of the PEHC.

A decision carried by a majority of the votes cast by the Members present at a meeting of the PEHC is a decision of the PEHC.

Each member present at a meeting of the PEHC is entitled to one vote on a question arising for decision at the meeting and, in the event of an equality of votes; the person presiding is entitled to a second, or casting, vote.

Subject to the Act, the business of the PEHC may be conducted in such manner as it determines.

With regards to determining a quorum and casting votes, Deputy Members are only counted in the absence of the Member to whom they are Deputy.
