Public Consultation for Draft Regulations & Codes

Proposed amendments to the Public and Environmental Health (Waste Control) Regulations 1995, and the introduction of the Onsite Wastewater Systems Code and Standard for Connection to a Reticulated Community Wastewater System.

The Department of Health has undertaken a review of the Public and Environmental Health (Waste Control) Regulations and associated Codes. This will assist relevant authorities in the administration of the Public and Environmental Health Act with respect to:

• the design, installation and operation of onsite wastewater systems, and

• the connection of a premise or building to a reticulated community wastewater system in areas not administered by SA Water.

Discussion papers together with the draft Codes and Regulations are now available for public comment.

Comments received will be submitted to the Public and Environmental Health Council, for consideration and recommendation to the South Australian Health Commission, the Minister for Health and Cabinet on the final form of the regulatory package.
