Applied Environmental Health ~ Wastewater Management

Wastewater Management Seminar 2006

The Wastewater Management Section of Applied Environmental Health conducted a seminar on the 15th 16th and 17th of February 2006. Over 60 EHOs attended the event which was held at the Holiday Inn in Adelaide. The seminar content on days 1 and 3 covered a range of issues relating to wastewater, including:

The second day of the seminar consisted of a tour of the Southern Vales. A number of sites were visited including:

  • Alternative wastewater systems installed at Marion Council Depot and an ETA bed installation;

  • Christies Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant;

  • Aldinga Wastewater Treatment Plant;

  • Driving tour of Sellicks Beach estate and reuse facilities (City of Onkaparinga); and

  • Willunga Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Issues discussed throughout the conference and during the question and answer sessions have been noted and will be considered by the Wastewater Management Group.

The seminar was a great success with a great deal of positive feedback relayed from attendees. It is planned to continue to hold this event every two years.
